Mentoring

As a mentor, I help students understand the world of design. I coach them on research, UI design, and help them develop the skills necessary to succeed as product designers.

As a self-taught designer with a background in digital art, I know that the impostor syndrome can hit hard from time to time. However, we need to keep growing and understand that design is for all of us to make an impact in the world. My mentorship goes beyond design and aims to instill soft skills and practical advice that is hard to come by in real-life situations, whether you are just starting out or trying to advance in your career.

Ultimately, I want to empower talented designers to become better human beings through design. It has been one of my most gratifying side projects so far.

I currently mentor through the DesignLab platform, and you can book private sessions on Superpeer.

Kind words I've received

Andre Tibbs

Diana has been a mentor with DesignLab and has provided timely feedback and additional time to help. Diana has established credibility by providing positive feedback but also challenging the mentee to step outside their comfort zone and find inspiration in unlikely places. The biggest takeaway from the mentorship is that there is no one way to design and the process is specific to each person. As long as the root of the user's issues is addressed, the rest is preference. Overall, Diana has supported and challenged me, making me a better designer.”

Diana was so helpful to me when I started my transition into UX Design! She provides thoughtful and constructive feedback, helping me improve on my designs. I also appreciated that she asks good questions to help me consider and articulate my design decisions. If I was struggling with a concept, she would make time to workshop some ideas with me. Working with her made me think critically and feel more confident about my work.

I'm a Designlab UX/UI Academy student who's worked with three mentors since March 2022, but Diana stands out the most. She's knowledgeable, attentive, and empathetic. During our sessions, she helps me with assignments and projects, guiding me towards solutions and teaching me critical-thinking skills. Diana shares valuable knowledge every session that the curriculum may not cover.

Diana is a great critic but balances it with her kind and non-judgmental nature. She's straightforward and honest when necessary but guides me through tough solutions with grace. Her attention to detail means she never fails to praise me, even when I feel like I've done everything wrong. She's also very relatable and isn't afraid to share her real-world experiences.

Diana has many other great qualities, but these are some of her strongest. I also have to mention her cat, Harry Potter, who sometimes steals the spotlight and even erased some of my work once. Without Diana, I don't think I would've continued with my program. I highly recommend her as a mentor to anyone.
